baby iyad 3rd hearing test

another early morning for baby iyad, luckily he's an early riser...so he woke up early for his ENT appointment with Prof A...this time round it was just mama and baby iyad as papa had class in KCKL..we waited at the clinic feeling sleepy and bored...baby iyad had a good nap before he started wiggling in the wrap and suddenly made a loud explosion just before his turn to see the doctor..we changed quickly just in time before we were called...

Prof A arranged for another BSER before deciding to put baby iyad on hearing aid, based on his previous BSER which showed profound hearing lost on his left ear and moderate hearing lost on his right ear...

baby iyad was put to sleep with syrup chloral hydrate and dozed off soon after...he was put on the probes on his head and ears and the test commenced...the audiologist informed me that his left ear showed some improvement the hearing as now his brain responded to 70db noise from 90db previously..his right ear also improved from 40db to 30db...but the test on the right ear did not complete as baby iyad was already awake, probably very much disturbed by the noise as he has better hearing now...i realized that too as he showed very positive response to noise before this...

alhamdulillah, we were very happy with baby iyad's positive improvement...as for now, we agreed upon repeating this test in another 2 month, hopefully to see more improvement, before deciding on the hearing aid...

baby iyad is 5 month old

alhamdulillah, baby iyad turned 5 month old recently..how time flies...baby iyad had been in a very good health so far...developmentally, he was catching up fast to be at par with typically developed babies at his age...now he can turn from supine to prone a few times, and can also change his direction and position while turning...he loves grabbing stuffs within his reach and very much love to talk and and giggle and wiggle with people around him...he is such an adorable baby in our eyes...

he weighed 5.4kg, and got his 3rd DPT-Hib-IPV vaccine...and on the same day, he got his OKU card the card for special needs children..yeay! with that card, he's entitled to some discount on public transport tickets and many more privilleges...not to forget a 50% discount on tutti fruitti frozen yogurt!

baby iyad is still exclusively breastfed and during the day he drinks 3-4 bottles of 4+oz of expressed breast milk...he is able to sit in the bumbo seat with his head strongly held up..he had started sitting on the seat since he was about 3 month old when he attended his class in kiwanis...

mama had been very busy these few weeks catching up the deadlines for the final exam..so baby iyad was left with papa during the weekends, and they had wonderful babywearing moment together...baby iyad behaved very well, and did not complain much..when mama came home, he couldn't let mama go and we had our intimate moment together, breastfeeding and babywearing...

my dear hubby is into photography so much..this is one of his wonderful piece of work that i adore so much..and iyad had so many things to tell you about his name and very much excited indeed...

we were on national TV

yeay!! so we started our new year with a BANG! (well, at least it was for baby iyad) :) .. baby iyad and i were featured on national TV! we should thank our dear friends, Rita of Bebe Sachi and Shida of SlingMeMama for giving us the opportunity to be in a babywearing segment in Selamat Pagi 1Malaysia morning talkshow on RTM 1...

we woke up and got ready very early in the morning as we needed to be at the studio by 7.30am..there was a bit of traffic jam, but we made it in time...we even got to park our car at the VIP parking lot in front the wisma TV (as we brought a baby with us)...

so, we waited in the waiting room, i got touched-up by the make up artist and iyad behaved very well indeed...there were 2 other friends with us, shida and ajui with her baby audi, to be on air as well...the segment was aired live at 9.50 am, thursday january 3rd 2013 on RTM1...

iyad was asleep throughout the show, nicely snugged in Bebe Sachi's wrap...he woke up after the segment was over and cried for milk...we had laksa johor for breakfast after that which were prepared for us by RTM...we took some photos as well before leaving for iyad's class at 11 in kiwanis...

so, iyad had a tiring day..after the show was his infant stimulation class...but he did quite well in his class (with some screaming and crying)...

alhamdulillah, everything went well..we hope that the segment will spread our babywearing love to the audience..

baby iyad's 2nd hearing test

we had an appointment with the ENT specialist Prof A...she's such a lovely lady to work with and shared her experiences with us in taking care a child with special needs.. baby iyad did his 2nd hearing test, this time with an experienced audio technologist and audiologist...as usual, baby iyad was put to sleep with syrup chloral hydrate...he fell asleep soon after...

the test (BSER) took about 40 min to complete...alhamdulillah, this time round it was completed without iyad waking up in between...we were told by the technologist that his left ear did not respond to the test as expected..however, further explanation will be given by the audiologist soon after...

the audiologist informed us that baby iyad would probably have left ear profound hearing loss as it did not respond to the noise given at 90dB...his right ear had moderate hearing loss..however, that could be due to his small ear canals that caused the noise given could not penetrate through and give the signal to his brain...a repeat test need to be done in another 4 month to confirm the findings...if the result is still the same, baby iyad might need a hearing aid for his disability..

nevertheless, our little angle responded to our calls and some loud noises..we hope that baby iyad's hearing would improve with age as his ear canals mature and enlarged...he is adorable and lovely to play and chat with..yes, baby iyad loves it very much when we talk to him and sometimes echoed the coo-ing sounds that we made...

a short breakaway at marriott putrajaya

as the school holiday is about to end, we decided to have a weekend getaway at a marriott putrajay..the kids love the idea staying at the hotel, simply because of a different environment from home and they love splashing and waddling in the swimming pool..

it was iyad's first experience staying at the hotel...he had no problem with it in fact seemed to enjoy himself there...

besides the swimming pool, the kids also had fun at the kids club room...even iyad had some rolling over and bouncing on the bouncy pony....imtiaz and jihan made some new friends there too... imtiaz was super duper excited when he got to drive the wagon car there...we had a walk around the hotel in the evening and took some photos too...

we had room service for dinner..the kids had pasta and fish and chips...iyad was so comfortable lying on the fluffy pillow...

the next day, we had some buns for breakfast and the kids went off swimming with papa...iyad was fast asleep still so i decided to stay in the room...i ordered some breakfast for them as i was absolutely sure that they would be extremely hungry after splashing and swimming in the pool...

true enough, they were like monsters hunting for food...imtiaz had a bowl of kokocrunch all by himself and jihan had some scrambled eggs and toasts and even took several bites of papa's blueberry pancake...

we waited for makngah and wan to come as they would join us for sunday brunch at the hotel...we had some good food but to me there was nothing extravaganza about the menu...jihan had the chance to meet the clown in person and got him make creature from the balloons...we checked out from the hotel after that and went home feeling full and tired...
